STRENGTH IN NUMBERS
i'm just going to turn this loose unrestricted - it will be the only one open to the internet. my hands are pretty full, so be nice, OK? i don't have time to referee. now that it has been confirmed that beta/WS is the permanent and only option, we must turn to seeking ways to make beta workable for the majority of members. a testing group has been formed under the "All Foo One" icon, carried on our profile : in the meanwhile, caring for pets via m.foopets (just switch "www" for "m" in your browser bar) is a halfway workable alternative. (btw, i tried to get the comments to run in reverse order, newest to oldest, to facilitate using this - no dice. if anyone else knows how, message me! otherwise i'll have to try archiving the existing comments or starting a second separate blog, neither of which is ideal.)

Hello! The purpose of this blog is to have a safe place outside of FooVille where we can discuss issues related to Foo that there is not really a place to discuss on the site. Also, using this space will allow us to speak more freely about options and strategies for helping improve the current situation in FooVille. I for one am very upset at the forced BETA situation and feel that if we truly band together in a constructive manner that we might be able to make an impact. So, that is our first mission, bring back CHOICE.
ReplyDeleteI have experience in grassroots organization and the first step is locating your advocates and building a strong network that can quickly be engaged and mobilized. I feel we can use this spot to make announcements, find supporters, discuss critical issues, and speak freely about Foo without site repercussions. Hey they might own FooVille but they don’t own the internet! So what I would like now is to get ppl to just check in here with a short post that says you’re “in” on a “foo movement” and give us your foo user name and member number. Now is the time while ppl are looking for a way to have an impact.
What I plan to do at this point is start messages to everybody that have posted a comment on the voting site about disliking being stuck with BETA as only choice and start directing here to get organized. I would appreciate if you would also spread the word around to all your friends that you think are upset with BETA that this blog is available and is where we will be giving MASS instructions as we formulate our strategy. At this point, we have no designated “leader” so feel free to chime in if you feel called to leadership positions.
And final thought….. if you LOVE BETA, then maybe you go start your own blog…hehe

ReplyDeleteI would be happy to help in any way that I can. There is a feeling I noticed in the "chat" last night of defensiveness on their part. When the community as a whole rises up in anger, that is many times the reaction that you will get. I believe that if they see "constructive" efforts to give us the choice again, then that will be more effective than threats of leaving and insults.
ReplyDeleteTrying to improve your product is a commendable thing, but as I posted on their feedback forum, you simply do not move everyone to a BETA product that is unstable and non-working when you have a current stable one up and running. You use beta testers and give people the option of using the beta until it becomes a gamma and then, after more testing... the main product.
This product is still in beta and not stable or working. I don't understand why the forced move to something that does not really work. I wonder if there is some other pressing reason that we are not being let in on.

This is JubileeBee from FooPets. I dislike Beta with a strong passion. It's one of those things that increases my chance of deleting my account; for example, the way they changed the scene editing, the layout they changed multiple times, etc. DrRon and the rest of the FooCrew, don't be surprised when half the Foo population disappears.
ReplyDeleteThis is yrkluvr on foopets. I am so unhappy with Beta. I have voiced my concerns on the forums and feedback forum. I tried to change Abbe's scene today, and it was in beta format....till I saved it. Most of the items I had placed were lost. Abbe is not sitting on the shoe instead of her bed. Too often admin makes changes that do not work. I have had a beta tag, but did not like the format so ignored it. I go to dinner, and viola! A new version appears when I logged back on. I no longer play with my pets, I use the instant care and am done with it. They have taken the fun out of the game.
ReplyDeleteI would be happy to help, as well. When Dr.Ron made that post saying randomly selected members had the "new play beta" not including me, didn't bother me at all. I was happy with they way things were with the regular play. Then a little while later, they gave everyone the choice to use either play. I was fine with that, because I used regular play to care/play with my pets. To me, regular play makes it more personal for members to be with their pets. I would use beta play to care for my friends pets, because it was easier caring for them that way.
ReplyDeleteThen FooMojo made the HORRIBLE choice of making everyone only use beta. Oh, I was extremely unhappy! I never liked the beta for use of caring for my pets. It glitches too much, and I absolutely hate how all the scenes are messed up now. When we had the choice to use either play, I was always able to get my 10,000fg and karma limit(yes, I said karma instead of starpoints. I still think StarPoints are lame. Another stupid choice on FooMojo's part). Now, I can't even make it to 2,000 everyday because I don't have the patience to sit through all the glitches and stupidness of beta.
I hate not being able to care for my pets like I used to, now I have turned to the mobile foopets to care for them. And oh yeah, that really shows how great of an owner I am. Psssh...Whatever! The mobile version is very handy, but I dont want to be a part of FooPets if I ony use it to care for my pets.
I hate beta and I will leave FooPets if its not fixed. Many members feel this way, some are already selling their pets to leave. I am going to wait it out and see if FooMojo will really mess up and not fix this only beta play, or if they will change it.
FooMojo either needs to make it ONLY regular play, or give us the option. If we don't have get the option to use regular play, then I WILL leave. As will many other members. Then you might as well say bye-bye to FooPets. Only beta was a huge mistake/choice that FooMojo made, and if its not fixed they are going to see the consequences sooner or later.
I guess it was another way for FooMojo to get more money out of us. If they care for their members, then they SHOULD fix this.
That is how I feel about this issue, I hope this helps to open up FooMojo's eyes.

Beta has a lot of glitches that either need to be fixed or take the good the good parts of it and provide them on the old version of the program. I have 69 pets between 4 accounts so far and in a couple of days will have 71. I love the ability to feed in less than an hour then go back in a play later when I have more time. I have tried on 3 different accounts to use the wide screen sceens and can not get tnem to work so I gave the only one I had to someone else and told her that is she could not get it to work to sell it cause I did not want it. I like that we can see all our fiends pets and use the instafeed buttons for the Clubfoo members under the Beta but that should be made available under the old program as well. Thee is still a way to get the Marleys and Pokeys to work with Beta but it takes a lot longer and more refreshing than before. You can not have a Marley or Pokey on the top of your pet list it has to be a Foopet . I have not tried a legacyFoo in the first spot yet but they may have the same problem as Pokeys and Marleys. I also noticed last night that the Great Danes are flashing in a and out and they are foos so it you have one move them down in the list as well. The older foos like the Chihuahua, Yorkie, Westie, or any of cats are fine beong first. the older sceens for the old program also work fine but a lot of the stuff keeps moving in sceen so you have to keep resetting it ever few days. I have offered my time and help for free as either an ambassador or Admin to help with some of the problems cause I am an older adult who is disabled and can not work. I do not expect any pay for my sevices I just want to help but they will not allow it cause they say they have enough people. My account screen names are LorisPawsAboutTown, TexasLorisKennels, ChewsMomLori and AdamChewbaccaNLori. With the Instacare buttones I can do like I used to do when I worked in a kennel and feed everyone then go back and play later when I have time. Before they switched it all over to Beta I had one account that did not have the optopn of using it except by going to each profile for each pet and using the instacare button then going back to the main profile page to get to the next one which too a hour just for the one account. The way it is now it is faster but there are too may other problems that they either need to fix or give us the option of using the either Beta or the old way. Lori and Adam chewbacca
ReplyDeleteI, too, am VERY disappointed in BETA. First of all, it is a BETA, meaning it is a work in progress! The loading times are ridiculous. The scenes are all messed up. The layout is confusing. Not all of us are "picture readers", ya know. Also, the pokeys and Marleys do not work. I also dislike the new camera. How the heck do we know if the pets are hungry if there is no hungry animation?! The only way I can take care of pets now is FooMobile.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first tested Beta, I hated it. Too slow and confusing for me. Thought I'd never have to use it again. Too bad I'm wrong. Foo, your money just went down the drain. Most users I know have canceled their FooClub membership and a lot are quiting the site because the fun have been taken out of it.
Once again, I am VERY disappointed in the latest changes.

ReplyDeleteI am very disappointed with this new BETA thing. They shouldn't have this going through so quickly. They should atleast take the time to take the glitches out of it. This new BETA thing is so inconvenient. Foopets was fine the way it was and they didn't HAVE to change it. A lot of people have been quitting. No wonder why so many user have been loosing their pets because it's very slow and some people can't even see their pets. I hope the Foo will change this!
ReplyDeletethis is Jacklin009, i jus want to say that beta is a pain in my "yeah" im so sick of that thing, i cant even fix my pets scenes. i am so disgusted with foo for doing this. it really drives me crazy. i cant even pet all my pets cus it takes so long to load and half the time i get a stupid error when trying to load the beta. if it wasnt for my pets and having such good friends i would have already quit foopets when the whole beta thing happened.
ReplyDeleteI ,Firehart, absolutely hate the beta, it's way too slow,and it's very hard to take care,and even groom your pets. I hope Foo realizes that this is making people quit the site, because they mainly can't even take care of their pets. They need to either give us an option to have the beta, or completely fix the beta. I really hope Foo will look into this,and change this.
ReplyDeleteHi everyone. I have decided to give Foo Pets some time to fix things with the Beta. I was upset yesterday but have cooled down some. I bit the bullet and worked with Beta today a lot. I discovered something that may help and I want to pass it along to you. When you play with your first pet and feed it and finish with that one, don't click on the My Foo Pets button in Beta. Doing that makes each pet go slower and slower. Instead go click on your profile tab and then choose the next pet there by clicking on play by their picture. That way your pet loads and Beta works way faster. Almost as fast as the regular play did. Keep doing that for each pet. I fed and played with all mine today (20) in about a third of the time it took yesterday. I hope that helps everyone!!
ReplyDeleteAs far as the Beta goes, I agree that it was a mistake to release it with all the bugs still in it. I think it was irresponsible of Foo Pets to do it. But it's done. Now I will wait and see if Foo Pets addresses the bugs and fixes them like they say they will. I really felt like leaving yesterday, but it's the last thing I really want to do. So, Im sticking for now. Again, I hope that tip will help everyone!!

ReplyDeleteI have been on foopets since the pokey days and am getting very fed up with the way they keep messing about with this site. We should have a choice of normal foopets or beta. Beta has too many glitches and so many people are now leaving this site due to the fact that pooville just do not listen to us at all. The people that are leaving have been on here for a long time like me and help many abandoned foopets like myself. I run a shelter with the help of a few good friends on here and do loads of others myself too and I don't want Beta at all. They get on the defence here all the time, they don't like listening to suggestions at all and they don't seem to have techy enough people running this site. This site used to be fun but I must say at the moment this site is fun no more. I can't say much more than this but yes would say we should all ask for a choice, normal or beta and I'd pick normal foopets anyday. Thanks Debbiemax
I could not agree more with everyone else. We should have that choice back of which option we would like to go with. I have NEVER liked Beta from the beginning and for me it still does not work in any of my 3 accounts. Staff never really has any answers. They just put things out that do not work and we HAVE to go along with them? Putting out malfunction is so wrong.
ReplyDeleteI will be here for 2 years and this is the worst of the worst..BETA! From all the posts I have read in different areas, it is apparent that foo has not listened to a soul on how we feel.
I have to go to Beta to see when to bond and I despise that. My pets do not move in Beta as I am able to move friends pets. I asked about it and do not get an answer. I am going to their mobile but that is giving me hassles as well. Things are not loading/responding. I am afraid to change any background and it's items for fear I will lose my items in Beta. I have been through losing items twice with my purchases with fd and fg. The first time it took just about 2 months before I got my fd and gems back. I had over 3,000 in fg and 1,500 in fd missing. One of the items ended up in gmail as Kate told me but how in the heck did that get there? Then a week or so ago I lost 7 items that I bought again with my fd and fg. They never showed up in my inventory. Finally, that is sorted out.
It should never come down to any constant repeated problems. Nothing ever works properly.
The so called helpers are no help and they do get sarcastic with me and some of my friends. One friend was told never to post again by a helper. Of all the gall!! For Pete's sake we are what had made foo what it is; as huge as it is Talk about greed as well.
They do nothing about expanding the size of the site with all the new members, daily. That in itself will slow us all down. Yet, they only have deaf ears! They get enough money from so many members too. What do they do with the money? They need more support for all of us and people that know how to fix things. I saw pics of the workers behind our screens and there is only one person for glitches, one for art, colors ect. Now what kind of help is that for God only knows how many members now?
I am VERY unhappy as many and something has got to be changed. We cannot go on with all these glitches and this so called Beta!
I'm having a ton of problems. Screens are incredibly slow. I can click and click on an icon and maybe get a response after about 20 clicks. And the responses from so-called "member support"! I'm THIS close to sending a snide message to their HQ.
ReplyDeleteI have points that have gone to others instead of to me, even though I'm the one who should get them, FooDollars that have never been paid to me, videos that have NO link to earn FooDollars, and the answer is always, always, always unsatisfactory. I have a personal email Inbox that's now full of GARBAGE for getting out of debt, buying crap I don't want or need, because I filled out one of their stupid things to get FD that I never got. But ask "Member Support" and they pass the buck to a company that doesn't respond, anyway. So that leaves me with a personal mailbox full of garbage and not a single FD to show for it, nor will anyone from FP speak up on my behalf.
This is not good customer service. This is POOR customer service. I have half a mind to leave, but I really worked my buns off to get my level pretty high.
I have to say...any REAL business would offer SOMETHING for someone's trouble...a non-free-trial month of ClubFoo for free, a background of choice, a credit of X number of FG or FDs. But no, not a THING is offered.
I am beginning to HATE FP! Frankly, if there was a simulation that was half as good, not cartoony or stupid, I'd leave in a split second. I know some computer programmers...I'm very tempted to see if they'd have an interest in starting a competitive site. FooPets is all about raking in money for the owners, not about the participants. And that's BAD, because it's the members who get ticked off who won't pay to join their stupid ClubFoo. I was thinking about it, but with the crap responses I've been getting to problems from "member support," I'll stick with anything else I can do to make FD.
Great comments here~ I have experienced all the same problems as I own Marley lab and a Pokey~ I have redecorated my scenes many times, everything appears to be in slow motion, and it takes forever to feed the pets~ what originally took 8 minutes is now taking over 45 minutes to feed my 10 pets~ This change is so unfair to anyone that is not a member of fooclub~ as I stated on the forums, I am in awe that they would take away options to play when the beta version is so flawed~ and I don't particularly care to use the mobile option as you really don't have any connection w/ your pets~ Why was this version so thoughtlessly placed on all members of foopets when the site has so many people employed that could have corrected and stabilized this version first~Give us a choice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteIam also unhappy with Beta. Everything is slow and with too many glitches. I have spent hundreds of $$$ on my backgrounds and scenes only to now have to redo them with backgrounds I don't even like. Well, I'm not changing any backgrounds or spending any more money than absolutely necessary until this resolved. I think until Beta is completely tested, users should be given the choice between regular and beta. Was so angry when it just appeared on the screen-can't they at least give any warning when something is going to change!!! I have calmed down some, but I am still angry and unhappy :(

I actually hardly used the beta version when it was available for me.
I definitely agree that it was wrong to not have informed members of the change that was to take place , however, we were told it would happen eventually. Imagine what would have happened IF we were informed?
My Pokey was always first in my page because I have had him from the GoPokey days. I do NOT like that I have to Place him in the 2nd position.
As well intentioned as this blog is, and it IS good. I do not believe it will help anything. Mainly because of what I read in the live chat *cough* yesterday. Paraphrasing here, members were given what they asked for.
I am caring for my nieces account, it is relatively new.Only two pets and both foos. She can not even access it now. I can only do that account from mobile. I just do not understand what the heck if in the minds of FooMojo. I have heard that this beta version HAD to come out because of something new to be released but NEEDED the beta version to be out first.
I do what I can then I talk with friends and that is the ONLY reason I am still here.

ReplyDeleteBeta won't go away. That's the truth. We have to learn to accept that. FooMojo can't please all their members, so while you may really not like Beta, another member may really like it. If you are really upset with Beta and are encountering issues with it, I really suggest to take a breather. Calm down a bit, contact FooMojo (by email: fookate@gmail.com or by FooPets Support), and tell them your opinions and complaints about Beta, so they can help you and try to give you and other members the best Beta experience possible.
This is recklessrapsy on Foopets. As a member of ClubFoo (and yes, I still am, mainly because I think I'll need the FDs to buy friends' pets and I'll be darned if I am giving Foo any more real money atm) I tested beta. I posted about the things I just did not like and I posted about the things that simply did not work. Clearly, they never read that feedback thread they set up.
ReplyDeleteI guess I perhaps had a heads up that beta would be forced upon us because my daughter created a second account in April and it was beta only. I have seen people saying they have made these changes to appeal to kids. My daughter's a kid, she hated beta from the moment she was made to use it. It's very frustrating to her. And this was at a time when we could actually get it to work most of the time.
I believe that a lot of the issues we are facing with it now, the errors and load times and such are due to everyone being switched over. Their servers cannot handle it. It was slower to begin with, it's impossible now. All I know is as a tester and on my daughter's account, before the switch, we could mostly use it. Yes, it had bugs, but it functioned. Now we are mainly reduced to m.foopets.
I don't want to care for my pets that way. Nor do I want to leave them. At this point I am not even so much angry or upset and sad and miserable because every time I log on there is a message from another of my friends saying they are radically downsizing or quitting. Pretty much all of us are adults who have given Foopets a bunch of real cash.
This site was fun and relaxing, now it's not. Plus I work, I want to have actual interaction with my pets and I can't, because I don't have the time needed to use beta.
Someone else made the comment that if you load up each pet individually, instead of through the play window, it's faster. I second this opinion, have been doing it on daughter's account since day 1. But during peak hours, even this no longer works for me.
Count me in on whatever actions you want to take. It's not like I will be spending time creating scenes or chatting with friends or posting in forums on Foo :P
Ah, and while I am in here anyways. I can deal with most of the crap of beta if I must. I refuse to leave my pets behind. What I will not deal with is this pick up and drop thing. They are not little pups or kits that one can pick up by the scruff. Even if they were, you would not them drop them. And I don't care what was said in that live chat, the "drop" is not how puppies flop. For a realistic example of the "flop" the old animation of pups missing their ball was excellent. I hate, hate, hate the picking up of pets, the pictures of pets dangling in the air, the whole thing. I want it gone, far more than I want beta gone. Sorry for the rant.
ReplyDeletehello i am here to say i am very upset with being forced to use beta as it does not work on my computer i so hope there is a way to get it fixed i have my foopet for my 5 yr old daughter as she enjoys grooming and caring for her pet and others and with the beta we can not do that as its to hard for her and my computer freezes and it upsets her!!!!! i so hope we can find away to get this the way it was i we are kdskitty and our pet is scooter thank you for letting me say my part and do my part in trying to fix what they did to us tammy and kd
ReplyDeleteHello! This is Peek-a-Foo. I'd just like to start by saying that I am not 100% against the beta in general. It was the fact that our CHOICE was taken away. Obviously I am not the only person complaining about this fact. I didn't have a problem with them releasing beta for testing. Obviously, it still needs ALOT of testing! :-D Personally, I continued to use the older version and ignored the beta. It didn't bother me one bit. They shouldn't have made it our ONLY option and permanent without asking us what we wanted or even informing us of their intentions to change everyone over. Yes, they have the "right" to do whatever they want at their sole discretion (have you read their Terms of Service)? IMO, ALL of the glitches should have been worked out FIRST - period. But that's just my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI must mention the fact that someone else copied and pasted my comments from a post I made on another feedback forum into the "LIVE Chat" yesterday. I did not know about it until after the fact and was not even there to represent myself at the time of the chat. In fact, I didn't even find out that there was a "LIVE chat" until a couple hours after it occurred.
Honestly, I would not have said all of that in that chat yesterday, as it was clearly set up to ONLY address specific technical issues. In my opinion, they should have scheduled another chat to address other issues members had, but that's beside the point.
I can understand why the admins might have been feeling a bit defensive, at least on some level. Not everyone is very tactful or understanding when expressing their opinions. I know I was quite upset at the time I wrote what I did in the feedback forum.
I did notice however, after going back and re-reading all of the "Live Chat" comments, that not ONE TIME did anyone in administration address the question about our CHOICE or why they couldn't give us our OPTIONS back. That seemed very deliberately passed over and ignored. Don't they see that is our biggest complaint? So many problems could be solved if they'd just give us back the option.
If I had to pick just one thing that upsets me the most about this whole thing, I would say that would be it: the fact that our option and choice was taken away from us without warning or any consideration.
I would still like to have the CHOICE of which version to play in: at least until everyone is equally happy with the functionality of the Beta version.

ReplyDeleteI realize it takes TIME to upgrade systems and that FooMojo doesn't have the ability to wave a magic wand make everything perfect and everyone happy overnight. I don't condemn them for trying to improve things or for any of their honest efforts to make things better.
It's too bad there isn't a way for users to voice their concerns and actually feel like they are being heard. Maybe they should open a "Live Chat Session" for us all once a month for that very purpose? And hopefully they will actually address topics that are brought up and not just the ones they want to.
One more thing I'd like to add regarding a comment I was quoted as saying: "If it aint' broke don't fix it." I'd like to clarify that statement by saying that I was only trying to point out that the the older version of Foopets that we all knew and loved at least WORKED and that they shouldn't have taken it away completely until Beta was perfected.
Honestly, I don't really want to quit playing on Foopets. I've worked REALLY hard to get where I'm at, not to mention that I've already paid for an annual membership! I'll be around at least until that membership runs out (hopefully) :-D
Well, I'd like to end this by saying, good luck and best wishes with whatever it is you're trying to do here. Thank God for our first amendment rights and for being able to share our constructive thoughts and opinions with each other. Just be careful. I would hate to see anyone who isn't actually ready to leave Fooville get banned off their site for some silly reason once they find out they have a whole group started against them. :-D

ReplyDeleteI too was extremely upset at having Beta forces upon me, and I am a huge advocate for being given the choice. As someone already mentioned on here, in the LiveChat (yes, I read the whole thing) it was mentioned several times this is what people asked for, and that the Beta needed to be in place, with the bugs worked out for some big thing they are planning on unveiling in the future.
If I had to stake money, I'd bet its multiple pets in one screen. Whether I'm wrong or right, I do believe there should be some way Foo can program the site so that we can have both regular and Beta play. Those who want multiple pets in their screen can deal with slow load times on the Beta, and those of us who want to be able to play with our pets, be it one at a time or not, can stick with the old play.
I do believe Foo also made this move because they need massive amounts of criticizm fairly fast in order to try and wrinkle out the changes needed to Beta before their being unveiling. I still think it was a horrible idea to do what they did, I also realize that some things may have to change to get other things we wanted. (I'd love to play with my friend's pets and mine...don't know about you guys).
So I'm going to be patient. I feed and play with Mobile, who is also glitchy for me. I can get a max of two of my pets to show up, then the rest sit at a loading screen forever. But I have found that you can still feed, water, play, and PET a loading circle. So, even though that's not ideal, I can at least still take care of my pets until hopefully they get this worked out.
Now, if we want to gripe on how better Foo could have handled this change, I'm all for that. It was a very poor business move, and yes, they are going to lose a sizable chunk of their users. I think it would have been wiser to work on Beta a bit more first before pushing it on us forcefully, whatever their reason. I do think the rush/greed/short-handedness is probably what is running Foo lately. Too many errors with the Great Dane's, the White Cats. I hope everyone up in arms will be enough for them to realize they need to slow down. Kate kept saying every site changes: Neopets, Facebook, Myspace. Yes, she is right. But I used Myspace for about 2 years before any truely MAJOR changes happened. And back when Neopets first came out, again, there were changes, but nothing so radically fundemental that a good percentage of players could no longer play the game. I think they are using too many excuses to shield a bad move. I hope they learn from this.
Again, I am going to practice patience. As I do hope the majority of FooUsers will do. And I will keep advocating for the ability to still use both, no matter what the reason is for needing the beta.

I personally don't see any benifit in changing the play screen to beta, we should choose. If we have a wide screen scene then who ever chooses to use beta should be able to, but I have many scenes that are regular, and they look terable in beta. I have had to make addjustments to using a different screen, and I think that I would like to have my old screen back.

They make too many dumb changes without giving any warning and then don't do anything when people show they don't like it. I quit coming to the site when it switched to foo (stupid choice #1) then came back and now they have all these other crazy settings. The beta should be an option period. I was very dissapointed when I logged back in and the beta tab was now the ONLY play tab. I use insta feed or the mobile site because it takes too long on beta and when I'm in a hurry I don't want to have to wait for it to decide to work.

1. Horrible slowness, loading takes forever.
The slowness of the beta is unacceptable.
It takes forever for the pet to load, then
another "forever" for the icons to load.
2. Scene designer - what you place is not what
you see after save. You have to position
the objects abit "off," so it appears
aligned after save.
3. Pet med notification not visible - you
have to go into each pet's profile, then
click notifications.
4. Pets look like they're on sedatives. The
moonwalking is annoying. The MAIN reason
most joined FooPets was so we can watch
our little Foos play, eat, roll around -
now they look like they're stoned. Not
cool.
5. When the pet "moonwalks," the icons move.
This makes it tough when you accidentally
click on the wrong icon because it moved.
6. Camera - before you'd click it and snap -
you get the picture. Now you get
crosshairs. By the time you can click it
again, the pose you were looking for is
gone.
7. The previous scrolling with the list of
pets was better - you saw more of your
pets at one time.
8. The feed/water button is gone. While I
understand this may be an effort by
FooPets to "encourage" people to join
ClubFoo to get InstaCare, for those who
cannot afford to do so, feeding takes
forever due to the slow loading time.
9. Dropping the pets. I was looking forward
to being able to pick up my little Foos.
The first time I did, however, they
dropped flat on their face!! Not cool!!
Any time a big change is implemented, it should be thoroughly tested. This doesn't seem to happen on FooPets. When they downloaded that stupid activity bar, it bombed out many members, depending on the browser they used. I couldn't even see my pets for 3 days.
Many software companies shove software out and let the customers find the problems. Saves a fortune in R&D (research & development). My guess is that is what is happening here, given the small development staff FooPets has.
If the response time on beta was as fast as the regular play was, I doubt there'd be so many complaints.
Perhaps FooPets is working on it, but they should acknowledge the problem and let us know they're working on it. And, until the speed is increased and glitches eliminated, the regular play feature should remain.
These issues should have been resolved before making the beta a mandatory feature for all members. It would have been far easier on the ambassadors who respond to the complaints.
Perhaps it's time FooPets responded?
I believe foomojo probably believed they gave us a choice for as long as they wanted to. I would imagine takes more space/time for their servers to run two different programs at the same time. I wish they would have perfected the system before it was our only option. Maybe like the above player said, they want us to do the research. I just hope they are listening, but I don't think they are.
ReplyDeleteFirst, my scenes haven't been working right for months. I am also afraid to go in an change things because they always look ok until you save, then everything jumps around. I have waited until I thought they may be working before spending money on all new widescreens. Besides what are we supposed to do with all the regular size screens now? Just buy more, yeah.
It's not like we can sell them.
Second, why did they have to take away the feed/water button for all of us non Fooclub members. So we have to become Fooclub members. Why give it to us in the first place? The bottom food water icons never load.
Also, I don't like that they have taken away the sidebar that shows the action that just registered. "You fed 6 mins. ago". Because sometime your actions are not registering. You might think you just fed your pet, but it does not show. You have to click on either the feed/water/happy/ icons for them to show. Or you have to click on the action box, upper left corner to see if you have taken care of everything.
They should have thought of a way to release gently. I thought I picked up wrong the first time that happened and kept doing it over and over to make sure there wasn't some way to gently release them back to the ground without them flopping. lol
Finally, the support staff, they must be in a world of hurt right now. I have cleared my cache and cookies. A million times. I have tried too many browsers to where I am not trying another one. Hey with what I just said, I think I could work in support, whadya think?
i want to get down to the point so here. I'v been haveing worrys about the efect beta might have on foopets...and in real life too, when you pick up pets you get to wach a scard, angery anamile trying to brake free of you grip, and also it drops them like a sack of flour, the cats land on there feet so it's a little better with them...but the dogs plop down on the floor...is that the right way to treat anamiles? no! it's promoting anamile abuse i think...and it's not worknig properly, about 16/18 of the back gronds are not worknig...it's a glich thay can't fix, and the loading is so slow! i don't want to wait 15 to 20 minets for it to load, i want it to feed my pets qickly, it's not very afishent. And that's just some of the porblems...the picters you take are never what you want them to be of...your pet moves so what will you get? and i want an opshan again...it's dumb to have a "give us feedback!" botten if thay don't care what we think? good job every one makeing foopets! you deserv a bag for linsening to us! lol
ReplyDeleteGrooming is glitched! It is erratic, sluggish, and tends to hang, making it impossible to finish grooming like I could in the old view. I also used to get kisses from my cat. No longer. Everyone listed the other problems so well, I won't reiterate them. I agree with them. They are maddening! Some may recall I was a moderate voice defending ClubFoo and was even contemplating joining to help pay for my bandwidth-chewing. Now, not so much. Not after that little surprise of beta only!

i'm Smokey Meowz in the foo pets land, and much of what has been said here i agree with. beta sucks! i just want the choice back to be able to play the regular play that was taken from us. i understand that foo wants to make improvements to their game but the problem is that their improvement is not improved! i've a laundry list of complaints about the beta version but i won't list them because everyone else has already listed most of these problems, but i will say that before when i had the option between beta and regular, i was having a ton of fun and now all that fun has been sucked right out of it. i nearly deleted my account yesterday because of all this B.S. but the only reason i didn't is because of some of the good friends i've met on foo.

ReplyDeletefoobear 11 here what ever happened to the customer being righ? having been a foo player for awhile now i'm really upset that the foo company seems not to even care that they'er product sucks. what would drive them to put out a non-working site other than money. who wants to spend they'er time playing the game on m.foo.it's like watching t.v. though a cardboard tube at a distance. not much fun or interactive.i've invested a great deal of time and money to play the game the way i found enjoyable only to have it pulled out from under me. what good does it do foo to make many of us angry and want to leave. you would think they would want there customer's to be happy and enjoy the product they put out there, but the drive to make money seems to be the only thing that concerens them. i'm not planning to leave foo but i'm not really enjoying the game as i once did and don't plan on spending any more of my hard earned cash on it either. to bad for you foo. this revenue path is now gone.

Being Linux user, I will always encounter glitches and laggy flash. But my brother has gamers computer that's so pimped up, it has latest graphics, sounds and what not cards, in short full 3D interface , fact is that Beta simply doesn't work. It plays way more complicated games than Foopets and it works like a dream and yet it fails to open Beta. That is not my computer's issue, that's issue with Beta.
I honestly am not sure how many votes a feedback thread would need to make them listen and fix things. They are unable to even fix basic things like message/gift icon not to mention they do ridiculously bad choices by forcing activity feed on us(which I never wanted, and I'm sure as hell not gonna pay for removing something I didn't want in the first place) and now Beta...I believe Beta was Beta for a reason, the glitches were STILL unfixed and then they force that on us? Seriously? I believe they miss the whole concept of Beta programs. Not to mention that the level of customer service is below zero.
All in all I am not happy and not sure for how long will I stick around to play mobile, because honestly without being able to care for my pets and decorate scenes that site is quite pointless.

Thank you for contacting me. I feel very strongly at Foo's injustice in refusing to reinstate our ability to individually choose whether to use shiny new features or not. We can choose not to play in the "fooniverse" and we can choose not to groom. Until a couple of days ago we could choose not to play in widescreen. Now the choice has been removed. First this buggy thing was foisted on foobies, but apparently foo didn't get enough feedback from people who had nothing invested in the game and could just leave. So now they are forcing us all to beta-test. This way they know they will get bug reports. It doesn't matter to them that good players are leaving in droves. I don't know what I can do to help, I'm not a sociable type, but I will do whatever I can to hrlp make them replace the choice.

ReplyDeleteI will do whatever I can to help; my time is limited but foo should be made to realise that they should not release a buggy beta version as the only real option to their customers. I don't count the mobile thing as an option because there is no real interaction. This is a pet-care game. Where is the "care" aspect of just pushing buttons, whether on mobile or as the "instacare" button -- woop de doo, you can pay for a fancier button which still doesn't let you see the animations. Fooville is turning into Pooville.

I can't believe anyone would think that a good way to make money is to force your customers to use a system that does not work. ReplyDeleteI am now forced to use Instacare (I am on ClubFoo) and Mobile FooPets. BETA has changed FooPets all together. Many people can't take care of their pets because of this. All FooPets freeze, just like Pokeys. On top of that, my computer handles - or used to handle - Pokeys, but since BETA came in, Pokeys aren't working.

This is legendarydogs from foopets. I am very upset at the forced change. I have troubles feeding my pets in beta and must do it a m.foopets.com but there I cannot see my pets run around. I cannot see them play fetch. I cannot even see them eat happily anymore. This is ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteI have also noticed that in beta no longer do they look at you and pant for food and water. Fookate states that this animation was removed to speed up beta. What would it be like if they didn't remove it? Hours to load up to screen? Really, if they need to remove that animation to speed it up they shouldn't have changed it at all. The pokeys also seem to be acting worse than ever, constantly freezing and the widescreen backgrounds sometimes don't work with them. And the widescreen doesn't work with the Marley either, who usually has no problems.
Many fosters are starving, as there adoption owners can no longer feed them.
I do not have Instacare, I refuse to pay a site that does not try to help there constumers. Without Instacare beta is impossible. What did the people who made up Instacare were thinking?

"Well, let's make it, but force them to pay!"
So now, us people who refuse to pay can hardly feed there pets. Sometimes I have a hard time believing that foopets actually cares about its non-paying members.

ReplyDeleteI have a suggestion. IF you have a lot of Foos, se the Mobile version of FooPets (m.foopets.com) to feed and water all your pets. It is quick and easy. For Pokeys, you can go to each of their profiles and click the "Feed And Water Pokey" button beneath InstaCare. It is available for everyone to use, and works well. Then, you can go to Beta and quickly move from pet to pet, playing and petting with all of them. (I know some people are experiencing major loading problems with Beta. Hang in there. Hopefully those issues will be resolved soon. I don't think FooMojo has detected any loading problems with Beta now, but they might.)
Widescreen backgrounds will NOT work with Pokeys. That's just the way it is. And if you want to avoid Pokeys disappearing, move quickly through your Pokeys, and that should help. Don't spend too much time playing with one Pokey. And if your Pokey gets very glitchly, try taking a snapshot. That may be able to help.
Legendarydogs, you said, "Don't fix what doesn't need fixing!" They are trying their best to improve the site, make it the best it can be. ALL sites undergo improvements.

ReplyDeleteAlso, if Beta doesn't load, I would contact FooMojo and tell them exactly what is not working properly, and provide screenshots if possible. Beta has been the only play we've had for a few days. FooMojo can't possibly figure out all the glitches and issues with Beta in just a few days. And if they understand you and your issue with Beta, they will most likely be able to help you, and Beta will hopefully one day be easier for all players to use and enjoy.

ReplyDeleteSure, sites undergo improvements. Most do not force BETA onto the player base. The last pet-care game I know of which did that, finally had to pull the plug on the servers after us loyal players had "waited it out" for a year of misery.
My issue with beta is that there is on the servers a working game which is not being allowed to us as an option, even though we all know that is possible, since beta was run beside it for weeks. And, as others have said, those of us who don't want to groom or join the fooniverse could still play with our pets the comfortable old way. This is not now possible. This is more than a fancy GUI or a new area in which to play. This is now a total change to normal gameplay.
If I am never going to be allowed to play the game my own simple way, I shall quite simply take my money elsewhere. I've already spent far too much on this game.

ReplyDeleteFor optical reasons, I like the widescreen scenes, but haven't tried to place anything in them yet. I'm skeptical now that I've read the comments.
I hate the slow loading and feed a lot via mobile foo pets now. The moonwalk has me baffled - what on EARTH is my kitten trying to do? And the fact that you can grab your pet and plonk it unceremoniously somewhere else in the scene gives me the shivers. It looks ok for the cats, but the dogs go flat on their faces with legs all splayed, horrible.
I'd like to point out that Foo Pets can change anything they want - it's their site, and I for one am not spending money on this site, so who am I to make demands.
However, if I were a Foo CLub member or someone who has invested a lot of money, I would complain. Not that that's a guarantee that anything will change, mind you. But they will notice if a lot of paying members quit. I just don't know how many people are so disgruntled that they give up their beloved pets - the addiction factor makes it hard to let go, I've noticed.
We'll see how we'll go but I doubt they will take the changes back. That doesn't mean we shouldn't protest vociferously, but I won't get my hopes up.

I am completely unhappy with Foo's decision to make the beta the one and only way for Foopets members to feed their pets without the use of InstaCare or Foopets Mobile. I have 15 pets, 6 of which are Pokey. Pokeys were slow enough, now they freeze 2x faster, they take 2x longer to feed... It's just a waste. Why risk losing Foopets owners that have been loyal as long as I have over something so simple? The People have spoken, LET BETA BE A CHOICE AGAIN!

I am a ClubFoo member so I usually feed my pets by instacare, but Foo should NOT be taking the enjoyment out of foopets for non-members to drive them into joining the club. It is NOT RIGHT!!! SHAME ON YOU FOO, YOU'RE JUST LIKE ALL THOSE OTHER SITES NOT, YOU ARE ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!

And to have this abomination forced upon us and then virtually ignoring our complaints is rubbing salt in the wound. ReplyDeleteThey have taken all the fun out of the site. No more pets fetching their food bowls and then dancing around joyfully when the bags of food showed up, sound effects included.
I can't edit my scenes anymore because when I bring up the Designer, all the items that I'd placed there are now inches to the right, some of them actually out of the scene altogether. I thought decorating was one of the most fun things to do. Taking photos is a joke and I don't even try anymore. And everyone is slow and jerky.
I don't go visit to play with my friends' pets anymore either because they all act as though they're tranquilized, so no fun there. What I'm doing now is the mere basics to get all my bars in the green and then I log off. They have pretty much ruined it for me and, if the comments here are any indication, for a lot of others too.
Does this remind anyone of New Coke??? What a marketing disaster that was?! And if Foo doesn't want anyone but paying members, they'd better take that "Signup Now - It's Free!" off of their login page! Or have the guts to terminate us 'freeloaders' themselves! If they expect me to pay up or shut up, they're out of luck! I'm on a fixed income and in this economy, I have to watch everyone dollar I spend and I'm not about to spend it here, especially after the shabby way they've treated us BY NOT LISTENING!! But I have a friend who is a paying member and she says she's having major issues with the BETA too!
Other than leaving, just what can we do? If they're not going to listen to their customers and just do as they damn please, it puts us in the uncomfortable position of shaking our fists at the sky and telling it not to rain.
This is discouraging and depressing and I'm getting too old for this crap....

This is avianahelena. Beta itself hasn't given me any terrible problems. There are lags and when my Pokey vanishes, so does the rest of the screen, and I then have to reload it-- but all in all, beta itself (other than the blatant animal cruelty portrayed in the drop feature) is not a huge problem for me.
ReplyDeleteWhat bothers ME is Foo's response to our concerns. In the chat, an admin said in response to a comment that they want to make beta "easier to understand"-- NOT that Foo would fix the problems. Foo does not acknowledge that beta does not work for most users. Admins have said that beta was made and released in response to widespread user requests. That may be so, but Foo, when did we ask for a product that DOES NOT WORK? Foo's dismissive attitude toward its user's problems is troubling at best, and frightening at worst. Foo does not care about its customer base. The company has made it clear that if we leave, we will simply be replaced by younger users who can nag their parents for the money to pay Foo's bills.
This is freightliner and I am beyond disgust. Staff, what little there is of it only has deaf ears to all of us and it continues. Beta stinks to high heaven. Going to support is a joke, a big joke. Now the main questions are what computer are you using, browser etc and that has nothing to do with their HUGE mess. They are trying to figure out problems? Get rid of BETA......NOW! How many more complaints are needed? There are over 2,000 complaints yet they do nothing for us whether we are paying members or not. I don't know what they are trying to prove by not listening. All they are doing is showing how incompetent they are. We, the people are what made them! There is really no staff to speak of. One person to fix all glitches is ridiculous. Those so called helpers do no good. "Real" staff does not show face. Now, I ask myself why in the hell (sorry) did I ever come here. Thinking it would be fun and relaxing but it has turned into complete aggravation and frustration. I would like to leave but I cannot bring myself to leave my pets. That would be abandonment and I am not such a person. When you think about it, staff has abandoned us, all of us. It sure doesn't feel good! I wish they would face their mistakes, take stock in themselves and what they have done. All they need to do is bring back the original way. Then 99.99% of us will be happy campers.

I believe (as some others have stated) that this is these changes to add "features members asked for" is to allow more than one pet on a playing screen. In just a few short days, we have nearly as much votes as that feedback suggestion got in 7 months. They will need to listen. I would like pets on the same screen, but in a format which works. I managed to get through all five accounts on beta today, but only as it was a weekend and I tried during non-peak hours. More than ever, I think it is their servers that cannot handle it. I have some tips to actually get face to face time with pets, which I will post later when I have more time. Still want that wretched pick up pet thing removed, more than anything else.

I don't understand why the FooMojo would make BETA permanant when almost everyone on the site was complaining about how it was slow, dropped pets cruelly, didn't load, etc. I think that they should AT LEAST put it back to where you could have the option. Maybe the FooMojo could even make it an option in "Preferences." I have voted and posted in Feedback and last I saw....there were 1,093 votes against BETA in Feedback, only on 1 single thread! As I've seen FooMembers state before, The FooMojo and FooAdmins don't CARE about what we say or do. They TRY to update the site to make it better, but it doesn't always work. Maybe NEXT time they try to update FooPets, they'll succeed and make it even faster than the Old Play, that mostly everyone loved.

ReplyDeleteLike many others I hate beta with a vengeance. All my pets were pokeys and they are impossible to care for in the beta version. Most of the time they don't even load. It works marginally better in Chrome but Chrome doesn't have the option to remove the activity feed and meebo.
ReplyDeleteWhen pokey became foo I was extremely disappointed but I stayed. This time I won't stay. After the beggars, scammers, poachers and vultures that seem to reign foo these days, beta is the last straw for me. I still have 3 days left on Clubfoo and 1 pet left to sell. After that I'm out, it's been enough.
Foo seems to want 2 things: raking in as much money as they can possibly squeeze out of us (beta is impossible, at least instacare helps taking care of pets) and getting rid of the pokeys (Kate said herself that they wish there weren't any pokeys anymore.
I used my last votes to vote against beta, my last contribution to the cause. I certainly won't miss the drama and the glitches.

ReplyDeleteWhy did they have to change it like this? I mean, I had the feeling that something was going to change because they don't make a Beta of something for no reason.
But no one complained when it was simply an option. No one asked for it to be standard because it was BAD. There are a couple glitches when you take 'Fotos', and making an attempt to groom your pets is a mistake. The mouse and movements lag, but the timer doesn't. You'd need a NASA super computer to successfully groom them. I didn't touch the edit scenes button because another member warned me how much trouble they'd gone through with the feature, and how some of their items had almost been un-retrievable because it was so glitchy and difficult to execute. I've resorted to the mobile version of FooPets, but it's very boring. You don't see your backgrounds and movements are very limited on it.
I like the idea of Beta, but they messed up. Wide screen would sound good and fun if it didn't make your computer crash. I don't want to imagine how it is with those who were already kinda slow on the normal play.
I also find it strange how you can swing your poor pet by the scruff of it's neck and let it drop. What are they trying to teach kids and other younger users, that you can mistreat your pets?
And another thing, I personally like Pokeys and my computer. I don't like making them suffer through Beta either. How can you take care of Pokeys? The mobile FooPets makes them seem strange, and who wants such limited play with them? Do they have no plan for the thousands of people with Pokeys?
Sigh, why don't they ever listen? WE are their costumers. If WE don't have what WE want, they'll lose us, new members, and all that precious money we supply them. They won't survive if they keep Beta.
FooPets has been much fun for me, but now...not so much.

ReplyDeleteI hate Beta!!! Every time when I'm taking care/playing/petting my pups, they always look like they're moving in slow motion. It used to be so easy to take care of them. I always press on the blue button labeled "Feed and Water" on the right side of my page. Now that it's not there anymore, I can only feed and water them separately. I only use Foopets Mobile to feed my pets now. But Foopets Mobile is not fun at all. I can't see my pets eat and play. It's nothing but just pressing random buttons. I want to enjoy the feel of actually having fun on Foo, but the Beta really gives me a headache. I like Beta, but ONLY for taking pictures of my pets dancing, walking, and being picked up. Other than that, I absolutely hate Beta!!! I think Beta should stay, but I want the regular play to stay even more. I would really appreciate it if we could have a choice again. Let our voices be heard.

ReplyDeleteSo I tired to do the pokeys with beta..... and results were pokeys+beta=nightmare . They still disappear and the new photo thingy lags so terribly , so it's impossible to unfreeze them. Drove me crazy!
It was a huge shock to me to sign on one day and see everything completely changed, jammed up and FUBAR'd. I was ready to quit that day, but a few kind souls showed me the "Foo Mobile Pets". It helps but of course your are very limited in what you can do.
ReplyDeleteSadly, Foo pets more than any other pet site site relies on and pushes for the use of REAL money. I belong to Dragon Cave, Dragon Adopters, Howrse and many other 'Pet-Adoptable' sites and while ALL of them offer added benefits and goodies for those who purchase passes and such with real money, NONE of them nearly force it on you!
For anyone who paid real money for Foo Dollars it's a slap in the face to think Foo Pets would run one way and then wake up and run another day the next. (And not just people who bought FD, but anyone).
The very majority who are complaining the loudest are 'adults' such as myself who have their own accounts and can purchase FD's. The younger kids (Under 10) who don't have disposable income are not as vocal, and just go off and play with a different pet adopt site such as "Poke Pets" or "Pony Ville".
The sad thing is, Foo Pets caters to much to the very people who cannot BUY the FD's. (AndI mean no offense to any younger players)...But come on. I'm a 47 year old woman. I could care LESS about FaceBook, or having some dumb CHAT activate each time I log on. I thinks it's SILLY the way they make you pay FD for USER created scenes and goodies...(It's not like we can interact with them!)
Whether Foo Pets wakes up and smells the coffee, I dunno. Sadly, I see with a Cynics eye that it is ALL about the money and sponsors for them, and very little care about the players!
I will give another month time of using the mobile app, but that is not why I joined FooPets. If they have not changed back by then or given us the option (that's all we ask...Give us the OPTION of the old version!) then I will indeed delete my account and be gone.
FooPets was once a happy little App for those who had FaceBook, then turned into a wonderful little pet adopt site to share with friends...And then it got GREEDY. Wake up Foo Pets and learn from some of the sites who have been around for YEARS and have a wide range of players. (Howrse, Mysic Grove, DC, etc). Don't anger your core players. They will leave. While it is great to offer "bennies" and goodies to those who spend real money on the site, if you change everything and/or make it a "must do", again you will lose a huge chunk of your playing pet.
Foo Pets above all should be a GAME. I don't want my Foo Pet to be susceptible to distemper, rabies, mange and anything else you want to charge for. I have REAL pets I need to spend my hard earned money on thank you very much.

I have to agree with others...The thing that began to worry me the most was that darn "Foo Activity" banner...Honestly, I have my friends on FooPets and don't care that Kyle from Kentucky is petting his pup. It clutters up my screen.
ReplyDeleteAnd then when the beta came out and I went to "pet" my dog and the cursor grabbed and dropped him I was flabberghastged! What is even the POINT of picking up the pet?!? It has no purpose in the game and is silly!
FooPets and Dr.Ron, once several years ago you had a GREAT concept. Now it is down the toilet. There is no shame in making RIGHT what is wrong. In fact we would respect you for listening to the players and realizing that Beta and all the nonsense attached to it is a "dud". But if you ignore your players and customers, they will go elsewhere.
:::Shakes head::: The picking up and dropping the pet is just heartbreaking! Very sad indeed.
Hello again all, Angiepussie & Princesspuss here. This will be the last posting on any forum/blog I'll be making for some time. I've decided to modify the time I spend on Foopets. I will log on every day to care for my pets only & that's it. I'll be making no visits to friends, care lists, spending no Foodollars (I can care for all my pets more than adequately with Foogems)& posting no more on any blogs or forums. I've put all details in both my profiles if you want to look. Basically I feel that some time out is needed for me to decide if I will continue with Foopets or not & I don't want to make any decisions in haste that I'll regret later. For what it's worth, I still believe we can hit FooMojo right where it hurts -in their pockets. I made the decision not to spend any more FDs & these are what make Fooville go round. Everybody can care for their pets with FGs. Personally I have no immediate need to be spending in the mart..as the designer is so screwed up what is the point of me buying up what I can't use? Obviously in this position I have no intention of adding to my Foofamily at this point in time so no FDs needed there. It's just a thought..if enough people stopped (albeit temporarily) giving their money to Foo I wonder how long (short)a time it would be before those deaf ears suddenly started to listen. We need to use the weapons that we have & be serious about it. It won't work if only a few people do it..this blog is called "Strength In Numbers" after all & the only weapon we have of any real worth is the money we feed them to pay their wages. This site wouldn't exist without the money you, I & every other paying player puts into it. Do the maths. As a final point, I have no doubt that "Beta" will not be withdrawn, I've said this from the beginning, but they had no right to unleash a programme full of holes onto the playing public whilst removing any other option to play. I'm not counting Mobile..that's not a decent option, it's a convenience not a means to an end. The issue here is the arrogance of FooMojo in treating the people who pay their wages like dirt & expecting them to say "Thanks, more please!" This is the leisure industry..they don't have the monopoly on virtual entertainment so let's not massage their egos into believing that they do. Over & out for a long time..still supporting you but for the moment enough is enough for me :(

I read where they are asking what pc's we are using, browser etc to try to find out what is going on. It makes no rhyme nor reason to me in asking those lame questions. It's all behind foo not us. I cannot believe how foo has turned their heads on all of us. It's as if we do not exist. We sure exist when it comes to hard earned money! Never in all my life.....I do not see how they can look themselves in the mirror. It's such a disgrace of how this place is run and it's so called staff. If anything, they need to know and show respect to all of us. What is this in support about a post going on and a helper comes in and tells you not to post anymore, it will go to the bottom of the post? Takes longer. Isn't this what support is all about...SUPPORT! I am finding that if say you have 3 problems, the helpers want you to post 3 different times and not all in one post. Then another poster comes in to say what their problem is and tell you he/she needs to make their own post when in the first place their post is very similar to yours. Geeez! Those helpers are a pain right where I sit. All they do is take info and pretty much get that mixed up. I had to email Kate about my missing items and who they were to go to. I had used the word "recipient" and she out front asked me, what does that mean? My Lord. What are with contending with in here? It happened to me of missing items before after I bought and she told me this is happening to me too much (in so many words). I didn't do anything but give them money! It's apparent no matter how we feel, what we say, what we want, we will be ignored. I like this blog very much and it helps to talk about all that is going on. Plus knowing it is not happening to one person. BUT...I hope someone of the real staff will take note and read what is written here and how unhappy we all are. Shoving this beta onto all of us is chaos. Apparently they did not do anything to perfect this beta. It's a royal mess. It's as if they put that word beta out and let us try to figure out things which is completely ass backwards and wrong. Too bad there is not a way to make it "OUR" company and not theirs. Heck, they don't care about us but we care about one another and our pets. I bet you if our pets could only talk.....Know what I mean?

If Foopets going to shove this stupid beta down my throat, THEY might as well have the responsibility of taking care of Ichigo Dei and Sally! All of the new members were all "Oh this is awesome! Please make it permanent!" While the experienced foo people were like "Nooooooo!Please don't give us beta! It's bad!" And who do they listen to? That's right, the people who barely know Foopets! That's why I don't accept random friend requests, for all I know they could be beta lovers!

Alot of Pokeys aren't getting fed because it can take so long to load...Its also freezing computers too :(

ReplyDeleteMe (recklessrapsy) again, after extensive testing. Not because I want beta, but because I believe we will be stuck with some version of it and because I want people to be able to care for their pets.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, your computer, connection and browser do not really matter. Tried 3 different comps including a new gaming one with excellent net connection, slightly better, but not dramatic. Of 5 different browsers, it functioned worse in IE, no real difference in others.
This does not help the obvious bugs with designer, the pokey/marley issue (if anyone can tell me how I can get to see my Exodus properly again instead of as a Foo on m.foopets I'd be very grateful) or the fact their own servers time out regularly... but it helps.
1) If you can, take care of pets during non-peak hours. Aside from bugs, the main slowness of BETA is their darn servers can't handle it. Period.
2) When you log in, go to your profile page. Open up your pets' profile pages. Check care history and notifications from there. Thank people who dropped by and treat for fleas accordingly.
3) Very important! Put all pets in old style backgrounds, not widescreen. Most of the white screens/freezing seems to be caused by Foo attempting to load the chances of pets doing these new animations. In non-widescreen backgrounds you will find your pet behaves/looks quite normal. It will not walk away from you (making icons disappear and freeze). You cannot pick up and drop pet.
4) Open one pet play page from profile page. Allow to load. Do NOT try to open up caring bars, care history, my pets tab or anything else. Just concentrate on pet on screen.
5) If pet is not at hungry/thirsty stage (ie more than 12hrs) forget about allowing bottle/bowl to load first. Instead pet then play with pet. Then feed/water.
6) If pet is hungry/thirsty, I use water first. A tip to make it faster/avoid the freeze where pet continuously drinks: as soon as water bowl comes out, click food icon. On dogs, it will speed up the drink. On cats it will actually immediately "kick start" the feed animation.
7) Petting and then playing. Pet first. By playing second, you often can avoid the glitch where the petting doesn't register on happiness meter. When you play, both will suddenly register.
8) Close window, progress to next pet in same way. Profile page/play page as outlined above.
9) When you think you've cared for last pet completely, from url on play page, eliminate www and put m. This takes you to m.foopets.com play page. There you can easily check over to see if any happiness bars are not at full and correct.
10) Access the pets of friends the same way, by going to their profile pages.
11) Access the play pages of fosters by clicking link, then immediately eliminate www with m and care for in m.foopets.
Yeah, it's ugly, but it works. On an okay but not fabulous computer with a dsl connection, I can work beta if I must. No it's not as fun, as fast or as simple. But I get to see my pets properly. Hope this helps others.
Recklessrapsy again, directed kind of at 40dede, but also to anyone else. I think we must tread carefully whatever we do. As I have stated, aside from obvious glitches/bugs and need to work on the new animations, I fully believe that their servers are largely to blame.
ReplyDelete1) I now think that the recent "euthanizing" of so many Shelter pets was due to them recognizing that their servers were not up to the challenge of the new BETA and attempting to drop whatever extra information they could that was taking up space. I do not want this to result in them going "Oh okay" and deleting a lot of inactive accounts with pets on them and yet more pets from the Shelter. Not that it is necessarily relevant to the BETA issues, but a suggestion that they allow new users to adopt pets from the Shelter might not be a bad one. The less new pets created, the less info Foo must save to databases.
2) The displacement of people's scenes is a programming issue. That is something concrete they could work to fix. (It will not fix scene designer not loading, which I think is a server issue again).
3) The question of pokeys not working should not turn into "Let's get rid of pokeys!". I have a feeling they may try to do this. Instead they should work to at least make them function... let's say in nothing but old-style backgrounds? I'd go for that.
4) If they can make wonderful animations of all my pets struggling in the air and then falling unceremoniously to the ground, they can darn well make lovely animations of my pets cruising through the air in comfort and being set down gently. While it is not entirely a well veiled threat, would they be willing to show these animations to Purina? Novartis? Bayer? The other companies that obviously give them nice fat contracts for product placement?
5) I feel important to mention (of course, they should know, but still) the Feedback thread they set up, the Give Us Feedback thread so many of us have been promoting and the many support issues in the official Support link, the User Support Forum, the Chit-Chat Forum... well everywhere you look really. People -cannot- use it. Not that we are afraid of or against changes, simply that the fun and joy has gone out of it for us. For many the ability at all has gone out of it for us. And in most cases, these are "virtual" pets that they told us were real, needing real care, that many of us have spent many real dollars on and now cannot get to.
I could probably think of more things, but that's what I can think of off the top of my head.

I think I miss the designer the most. Everything that has been placed has now shifted to the right a couple of inches, to where some are out of the scene altogether and I'm afraid to touch it, which is too bad because I regularly changed and redecorated my pets' habitats.
Although loading doesn't seem to be an issue (I load on IE and it seems fine, but I do have a Dell with Windows-XP and dsl ISP), the pets are slow and kind of jerky and my friends' pets are ever worse, some 'pixelated'.
Also, I miss them fetching their food bowls and bouncing around happily when the food bags showed up, just like my 'real' pets do. They've eliminated this and eliminated a lot of the pets' personalities as a result.
Taking photos has become a trial, but maybe that's just something I need to get used to. As is, a minor irritant. I do wish you could designate which foto you'd like as the pet's primary tho.
And the whole idea of 'euthanasia' I find appalling! It's bad enough that this goes on in 'real' shelters so that they can 'make room'. I would have thought Foo would be beyond that. I agree, it would be an excellent idea for first timers to have their 'free' pet come from a shelter or rescue group. Heaven knows, there are plenty out there, so it isn't as tho you wouldn't have some great choices.
Sweetmeadow again. One more thing: What I do have a lot of trouble loading is my friends from the 'Friends' tab, messages from the 'Profile' tab (for myself AND my friends) and 'Gifts'. But this as always been an issue, so I hesitate to blame it on Beta. It will come right eventually, but does take a lot of 'refreshing'.

ReplyDeleteMost of my concerns have already been addressed so I doubt there is anything more I can say without sounding redundant.I just want to say I am seriously pissed off how FooMojo just shoved beta on us without it being properly tested or how they never gave the feedback we beta-testers provided any credence .Also, you would have thought they would at least announce the site-wide change,grrrrrr.I`m not quitting but I find my time on Foo is being restricted and just not as much fun anymore.I am however cutting back on how much I spend in the FooMart,just essentials for now.Part of the fun was decorating a creative scene for my pet(s)but whats the point if stuff wont stay where its supposed to.
Oh and I`ve noticed since the change that I`ve been hit with Adware alerts(Win32/loudmo)something I`ve never experienced on Foo before.Anyone else?

ReplyDeleteWell, if you read the Up to Speed thread, later on Kate comes back to say the Wheel was released by accident (in other words, that it's something in the works). And considering the starter pet debacles recently, I'm inclined to believe it was a programming error. I think this shows though, that while they are not acknowledging us openly, they are scrambling behind the scenes. I still say the changes in BETA were at least partially implemented with the idea of more than one pet in the play screen. Well, look at that, our feedback post surpassed it. So now, if you look at the two ideas still above ours, one is for a Tamaskan Dog... probably hard to implement in quickly, plus a new pet was just introduced. The idea above that? You guessed it! A shiny spinning wheel where you can win prizes! Make no mistake, Foo is hurting right now.
ReplyDelete40Dede . The reason why they spoke up was because me and many others sent e-mails to at least make them act like they care. Though that thread wasn't much helpful. True, pet appears faster but food/water buttons always load last and that's not helping me at all.

ReplyDeleteI've recently adopted a Pokey, and love him true. The previous owner was not taking care of him. (Possibly because of Beta-Pokey issues?) I am lucky enough to have a nice friend who allows me to use their very fast computer which runs my Pokey on Beta. But what about those who don't have fast enough computers? Are they destined to have fosters take care of their pets forever, or will they be forced to sell their cute Pokeys? Maybe they will only be able to visit them on Mobile where they are Foos. What are they to do??
I have now become afraid of FooPets turning my unique Pokey into one of those...Foos...
It seems they have no plans for these adorable and old fellows. The only thing they have in mind is...getting rid of them...! *huggles Pokey*

ReplyDeleteI've been with FooPets since the onset, was with them back when it was Pokey. And as usual they haven't given us a choice in the decision, just poof! and it was done. At this point I'd be very surprised (but very happy) if they would allow us the option of having Beta or not. When it was still a choice I chose not to use it because I was very aware of the glitches with Beta. My play page worked well enough and was easy enough to maneuver. Beta doesn't always load for me, sometimes it's just a blank page until I go to my profile page and click on my pet there and even then it still doesn't work. My only saving grace is the insta-care tab, yes I'm now a paying member. Had no choice couldn't care for my pets. I'm not going to be leaving FooPets because I love my pets and I love my friends, it's been part of my everyday life for almost 2 years but that isn't to say that I want Beta. The decision to use it should be the users/members. Since the change was made I've had 4 friends leave and I can see more leaving in the future. They aren't able to get to their pets with this new system. I have other friends that are very unhappy with this also and thus far we're sticking together to try and weather this out and hoping that a change is made. Please let me know what I can do to help. I love my pets and my friends even more.
ok has everybody seen the changes that came out today? the daily spinning wheel and the new pet limits for the different star levels, including the fact that you get 50 pet limit if you are in the club...i think they have certainly demonstrated that they are going to just make changes as they see fit with very little input or respect for existing members. I really hoped that some of the things we had done (the voting thread and comments) the protest avatars, lots of talk in forum and then stuff like this blog, would cause them to stop and think about their customer base, but I havent seen one indication from them that they are listening ....they might be lurking but they are not LISTENING...one idea i had was for us to try and get an audience with the new customer service person. I sent an email that was not responded to asking for contact with the new person. Any ideas on how we could start a dialogue with customer service? Looks like they would want to get our opinions? I am fairly new and so to hear that this is bascially just how they always do it, then that means it is a big job for us to get them to think they even need to listen to us....sigh...u think there is anyway we could use a wiki board to gather suggestions? just trying to brainstorm any ideas
ReplyDelete...so now we have "FooLette" (the add a wheel Suggestion), and we've had the Heart Park since the middle of last year...what happened to "removing acted-on Suggestions and restoring the votes" - not to mention allowing other, newer, more valid Suggestions to move up in queue? but now that you can buy the right to more pets instead of earning it - and even that with sensible limits - i suppose all bets are off...i'm surprised they haven't put karma (oh, i forgot - it's "starpoints" now, so much less implied responsibility in the new name), rank, and bonding badges for outright sale, and eliminated the middleman...that's probably next.

by the way, based on extensive and bitter experience - Customer Service does NOT want opinions and do not want to engage in any dialogs - as a matter of fact, discussions on open threads in Support are warned off as delaying action on the problem. if we can get FooMojo proper in a dialog, perhaps - but they have yet to respond to nay of the numerous emails this issue has spawned, to the best of my knowledge - and it has now been a week.

THEY FINALLY DO SOMETHING THAT WOULD HAVE GONE FAR TOWARD IMPROVING PET CARE - THEN DESTROY IT FOR THE FAST BUCKS.
ReplyDeleteOK I just got an email from FooKate that says they will accept a group statement to customer service in the form of an email...so I would like for us to gather together something that we can all agree on and then make it like a petition where members sign on in support and then we will email to them. I would like to see how much we could done on it this weekend...my first thought is to start a wiki and folks help me compose it from there...???...is that too much work and do you think we can get a good product from that? any other ideas on how we can send them a group email?
ReplyDeleteflatbushgambler from May 1st had a great list of their major issues (complaints). That would give Foo something neat and clean to work from. If anyone had something other than what's on that list, add it on and you could compile from all the suggestions. Give us a deadline, so you'll have time to compose a finished product and all of us could sign it with our FooPets I.D.'s (tho how this could be accomplished is going to have to be up to someone who knows more computerese than I do). But I'm ready to sign on to whatever you come up with. Just let us know what we can do.... {SweetmeadowCottage}

ReplyDeleteI hate BETA and it doesn’t work. I have been a member on this site for around 7 months and I have never been this mad at Foo. Ever since that one afternoon when they took the regular play off, I'm forsed to use the Mobile FooPets just to get done caring for my pets. I myself might quit if this doesn't get better. I’m verry disappointed in Foo. >:-(

ReplyDeleteI really don't like BETA. They have now made it at least a little faster but still it takes forever to get to all my fosters and other pets. They have now changed some more things which is driving me crazy. They aren't listening to us! I am very diappointed in Foo and I might quit if this gets worse.

I just want to thank these wonderful people who have devoted so much time and work to try to get the foopets that we had back. I like change for the better but we deserve to have a choice in it. I havent been here but a few months but have made some great friends and gotten very attached to my foobabies. I hate to see a great place to relax and make friends turn into this mess that we have now. Ok Im done rambling I just wanted to say THANK YOU.
ReplyDeletethe operative word in "change for the better" being BETTER - not just CHANGE. now that foo has seen that members can and will join together and act in concert to help make the site what it could and should be, prhaps we will see that come to pass.
ReplyDeleteSadly, I've made the decision to log in to mobile feed my pets and try to get the lonely pets I've got listed on my page too, and then sign out. I have a great deal of issues with depression and where Foo used to at least alleviate that for a time, it now only makes it worse.
ReplyDeleteI really don't want to leave or trust, I'd be gone already. I'm so severely upset behind all this that I'm actually getting tired of talking about it and writing about it, blah blah. What good is it doing? MoJo cares NOTHING for it's members. They're after money. PERIOD. And apparently that's fine with them and the BBB.
I have no timeline just yet, but sadly and truly, I'm only gonna be around a few more weeks and if I see no improvements and/or MoJo decides we're still not worthy of knowing wth they're doing. Then I'll be adopting out my beloved babies and leaving.
My life was simpler and less stressful when I just spent everyday in bed. Which is where you'll find me if you have any news. :o/
BTW, I'm so ANGRY, I left some angry comments on the interview video of DrRon and Scott on YouTube. You KNOW I'm losing it. But to tell you the truth, I'm putting the word out EVERYWHERE I can that FooPets is NOT worth joining. Like I said, I'm tired of talking about it though. But just thought I'd mention that. Idk why.... I've just gone beyond hurt and angry.......

ReplyDeleteI have my moments of outrage where I can articulate the many things FooPets has done wrong by its users, but mostly I'm just exhausted. There's only so many times I can do this (frankly, most of the changes since the introduction of FooGems last year have been negative).
I mostly just go to the mobile page, my profile, and the arcade now. I love my pets and by now I've come to terms with the fact that I'm probably not going to leave.
Maybe someday the new play page will be useable enough to NOT make me want to tear my hair out, but I'm thinkin' the ugly layout's here to stay! Oh joy.

Since FooMojo won't bother to communicate with us properly, we need to report every single glitch. I mean every single one gets its own report to Member Support in great and loving detail. If they are going to stick us with the Beta layout that is not yet working properly (& they are), then they need to be told in gory detail that they need to get it right. It's interesting that all trouble tickets submitted now are private. How fortunate for them. Now they won't get help from others, so let them be swamped by our legitimate complaints!
ReplyDeleteI, TheExcitedKangaroo, personally think that FooMojo need to learn something from this. They have done so many things that really get on my nerves. It almost seems as if Foo think this is some kinda game.. "Hmm lets see how they react to this.. LOL they didn't like it.. who cares". They treat us like we are dumb and don't love our FooPets.. We love it more them.. They only love the profit it produces. Dr. Ron is quoted as saying that Foopets is his baby.. I would never treat my baby like this. They randomly introduces pointless things such as Club Foo beta etc. Analogy: Foo raises Shelter prices threefold. Imagine the chaos that would follow all the shops in the world tripling their prices.. but everyone's wages stayed the same. It would not be allowed. But Foo did this. Foo banns us From changing our usernames. Imagine if suddenly the clothes you are wearing this instant.. without warning became the ones you had to wear for the rest of your life. But I am straying off topic. Foo have made wayy to many mistakes. If it wasn't for my love of my pets I would be gone by now. Roo is ranted out.
